Description: Lapis Lazuli is renowned for its deep blue color, often speckled with golden pyrite inclusions that resemble stars in the night sky. This semi-precious stone has been prized since antiquity, used in the jewelry and ornaments of ancient Egypt and Mesopotamia. The finest quality lapis lazuli features an intense, uniform blue that is highly sought after for artistic and decorative purposes.
Fun Fact: Historically, lapis lazuli was not only a favored stone for jewelry and carvings but also ground into powder to create ultramarine, the finest and most expensive of all blue pigments. This pigment was used by some of the most important artists of the Renaissance and Baroque periods, adding a heavenly blue to their masterpieces.
