Fun fact about Key West is its association with famous American author Ernest Hemingway. Hemingway lived in Key West for a significant portion of the 1930s, and his former residence is now a popular tourist attraction known as the Ernest Hemingway Home and Museum. Interestingly, Hemingway was known for his love of cats, and today, the museum is home to numerous polydactyl (six-toed) cats believed to be descendants of his original pets.
