The Tough 1 Paw Be Gone Ankle Bands (Draft) are a pair of leg accessories designed to deter pawing in draft-sized horses by applying pressure to the coronet band when pawing occurs. The system uses a heavy powder-coated steel band with securing components to hold it in place around the cannon bone, ankle, and pastern areas.
- Material and construction: Heavy powder-coated steel provides durability; includes an elastic loop to help secure the band after placement.
- Dimensions: Metal band is 1 inch wide by 14 1/4 inches long; the opening is 2 3/4 inches wide.
- Placement: The metal band is applied by sliding onto the cannon bone from the rear of the leg, then lowered over the ankle onto the pastern.
- Securing: A rubber band is pulled across the opening and into a notch to secure the band in place; an elastic loop helps keep the band in position.
- Fit: Should fit loosely but not fall off; if sized correctly, it can be used without the rubber band securing mechanism.
- Usage restrictions: Do not use while riding or when the horse is pastured or exercising.
