Western Belts & Buckles: How to Choose and Style Them

Publicado por Everest Ranch en

A tooled belt and a good buckle are the finishing touch on any western look — and in the West, the buckle is a statement. Here’s how to choose and wear them.

Belt and buckle: often sold separately

Many western belts come without a buckle so you can pair your own buckle. Look for a belt with snaps so you can swap buckles for different looks.

Sizing a western belt

Western belts are sized by the number stamped on the back, usually 2–3 inches larger than your pant waist. If you wear 32″ jeans, order a 34–35 belt. When unsure, size up — you can always use a different hole.

Leather styles

Hand-tooled leather is the classic, dressy choice; hair-on cowhide is bold and trendy; plain leather is everyday-versatile.

Choosing a buckle

Trophy and engraved buckles make a statement; smaller buckles read everyday. Match the buckle’s metal tone to your jewelry for a pulled-together look.
